Roman Feast

Year 3 had a great time at their Roman Feast on Friday November 23rd. They prepared all the food, baking oatmeal biscuits and honey cakes during the week leading up to the feast day. They organised their own group entertainments, including sword fighting, Irish dancing, singing, gymnastics and joke telling. They invited parents and grandparents - some came along as guests and others volunteered to act as slaves for the day. This meant coming to the feast dressed in Roman togas and serving the food and drink to the Roman citizens. We even had two pre-school slaves who joined in the festivities. Everyone in Year 3 was dressed as a Roman citizen and they processed through the hall in style to show off their wonderful costumes. It was an excellent afternoon - everyone had lots of fun and it brought history to life in a very real way.
