Autumn term in Year 5

It's an exciting time to be in Year 5. In History the children are learning about how Britain has changed since 1948 for which they have created a fascinating 'museum' of artefacts. There will be the opportunity to take part in a workshop about Popular Culture at the Discovery Museum on Thursday 15th October. On Tuesday afternoons Mrs Wallis teaches the class Science. The current topic, Keeping Healthy, looks at the different aspects of a healthy lifestyle. In PE the children are refining their gymnastic movements and they are being taught basketball skills by a basketball coach, Billy. Our topic in DT is Biscuits during which the class will make and evaluate a new biscuit for a particular occasion. Year 5 children are very fortunate in having each been given a trumpet. They will receive a weekly lesson from Mr Parnaby. This takes place in the classroom every Tuesday morning and lasts one hour. Lessons are fun and the children have learnt a lot just in the two they've had so far!
