Last week Year 5 had the privilege of meeting the children's author and illustrator, Shoo Rayner. He told us how he started out as an illustrator of other people's books for children. Inspired by the stories he was illustrating, he decided to start writing his own books for children. He has written a series of books featuring the characters Viking Vik and Ricky Rocket, as well as a collection of spooky stories called Little Horrors. Have you read any of Shoo's books?
Shoo created a story using our ideas. In groups we had to record each part of the story using pictures and words. He thought the craziest ideas were the best!

It was really interesting when Shoo showed us how he draws using the computer. It didn't look easy!

I really enjoyed listening to Shoo Rayner his ideas were really good i enjoyed it a lot.

It was really fun.We made a story about intergalactic Greggs and intergalactic Subway. The two main characters were Lady Greggerina and evil Lord Sub. In the end they get married and join their sides of the universe together to make Greggways.

It was very good. I enjoyed making up the class story. Shoo told us he plans the end of his stories before the beginnings because it helps him to start the story off.

It was really fun. I liked the Greggs and Subway story we made up. There were eleven parts to the story and we had to work in groups drawing and writing one part of the story. It was a great trip!

I enjoyed making a story with Shoo. It was about Subway fighting Greggs, the Doughnut space shuttle!

It was nice seing someone famous. He was a very good drawer. He is a illistrator & author who has worked with other famous people
